After the success of their first single “Safeword” in September, The Bedside Morale are back with a new song called “Bitter Things.”
This new track was produced and mixed by Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath. It talks about deep and personal feelings like loneliness, lies, and habits that grow from fear and insecurity. The song has strong choruses, sharp drums, and emotional vocals. It is written like a story, using a call-and-response style to show the thoughts of one main character.
The band says this is their first song built fully around a character. The character is a man who hides his pain and uses self-pity and negativity to control others. He seems like a villain, but inside he is lost and insecure. The band says this song is for people like him — to show that others can see their true side.
They also shared how they made the song. They wanted a call-and-response style like The Police or REM. The chorus came naturally, and they love the ending, which grows big like an orchestra. “Bitter Things” shows their talent and creativity.
