Channelling the warm slow jams of late 90’s R&B, alongside the infectious melodies of 70’s soul, DMGD completes a stellar year of releases – including ‘Bubblegum’, ‘SIX SHOTS 2023’ and ‘Risk Prevention’ – with his latest hypnotising track, ‘In My Veins’. Addressing a past lover, the heavenly, reverberating nature of DMGD’s vocals carry immense poetic and hypnotising depth.
DMGD explains, “In My Veins is me at my most vulnerable. Making reckless choices to temporarily ease the pain of toxic love. In the song, I recognize this almost delusional, yet valid, clarity I get from stepping out of my mind. Right or wrong- no matter how I cope, I could never be as cold and heartless as you were to me. Forced into newfound loneliness, I discover self-worth amongst the boozy fog. Igniting self-awareness to never accept below the belt again. The truth is in life, no one has your back like you do for yourself. The most important relationship to have is the one we have with ourselves. It’s on us to make peace with who we are and to own it. You get what you give- so, give your value, own your worth, love wholeheartedly. Give everything you have to self-acceptance and find an inner peace so great, no one can ever take it from you again.”
As the artist looks towards more releases and an eagerly anticipated debut EP, DMGD is riding a wave that sets him up as a major one-to-watch in 2024.
