Oklahoma-based Austyn Moffat — known professionally as coldbrew — has truly come into his own this year, solidifying his position as a leader in the world of lofi. Following his debut EP, welcome to my mind, and follow-up, childhood, his new album takes his artistry even further. Letting go of self-imposed restrictions to music and the voices in his head that limited his artistic experimentation, coldbrew crafted the project with only one rule in mind: Does it feel good? With this mantra, he made the album in only four days and has released a mere three months after its inception. With crisp yet gentle soundscapes and vocals that feel like instrumentals, the 20 — yes, 20 — tracks tell a timeless story that reminds us why we love this luscious genre, while simultaneously offering something entirely unique.
The artist shares, “If I could give everyone listening to this album one message it would be this: There are no rules to creativity. There is no one way to do anything. Everyone is on their own path. Follow what feels right to YOU. The only compass you need to follow is your own. If you like it then it is good. Simple as that. Go create to your heart is content, there is no time to waste.”
